After an impressive career at the highest level of showjumping, Cartello (Cartani x Lord) is bidding farewell to the sport to focus on his breeding career at VDL Stud. In December, Cartello will make his final competition appearance at CSIO5* Geneva before returning to the VDL Stud stables, where his journey first began.

Ridden by Darragh Kenny, Cartello achieved numerous successes, including victories and top placings in Nations Cups and Grand Prix events. One of his career highlights was competing at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, where he delivered outstanding team performances for Ireland, including a win in the opening speed class. More recently, Cartello claimed victory in the Grand Prix of Monterrey and secured second place in the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix of the Spruce Meadows Masters. Cartello has earned over €1.6 million in prize money during his sporting career.

Known for his exceptional talent, willingness, and consistent performances, Cartello now embarks on a new chapter as a breeding stallion at VDL Stud. With his remarkable sporting achievements and outstanding genetic lineage, he is set to become a valuable asset for breeders worldwide.

VDL Stud is proud to welcome this proven stallion and half-brother of Cardento to their team and looks forward to his contributions to future generations of showjumping horses.
